Radamés "Juni" Figueroa
Born in 1982 in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Lives and work in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
DESCRIPTION
Radamés “Juni” Figueroa is the originator of the project La Loseta that during all the year 2011 organized around twelve exhibitions and events in Puerto Rico, with a starting point of managing themselves the project with the idea of developing alternative spaces of exhibitions. He is also a member of the collective Proyectos Ultravioleta, based in Guatemala, and founded in 2009, that is focused on artistic experiments and multidisciplinary projects
Figueroa enables spaces for interaction between artistic practice and conviviality of the viewers. His projects take the shape of installations, ready-mades, painting and drawing. He feels a particular preoccupation with cultural endeavors and has become an active agent in collaborations between people from different art and music scenes. One of his recent works (June, 8 2013) is the "Tree House" composed of a "collage" or architectural assembly made of lumber from El Bosque Aruxiliar, Naguabo, as well as materials collected in the city of San Juan. Among the materials employed were wood of various types, glass windows, tropical windows, zinc and plastic roofing, and other discarded materials found throughout the city. With these objects, Juni built a structure in the forest that serves as a haven to relax, enjoy the scenery, partake of live music and even meditate. Juni Figueroa’s initial idea was to create a space to get away from the city and he thus ventured into the tropical forest.
