Description
Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico in 1992. Holds a Bachelor's degree in Humanities with a concentration in Fine Arts from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus in 2016. In 2014, she was awarded first place in the Contemporary Art Contest of the University. In 2015 she presented Memory Shelter, her first individual exhibition at the 209 Gallery of the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Puerto Rico. That same year she was selected to carry out the project "The truth is the only complete education" a public intervention in the facilities of the Student Center of the Río Piedras campus. She is currently working on the development of a body of work that develops between sculpture and performance and a brand of handmade swimsuits called Yo+.
Carrying her grandmother teachings on knitting when she was 6 years old, Jomary deals with the capacity of the textile, its different meanings on the body and how society has historically give different interpretations on its uses in a constant reflection through the power relations in society.
