Jesús "Bubu" Negrón
Provenance
Jesús Bubu Negrón carried out the performance "The Back Portrait" in places like Venezuela, Miami and Puerto Rico. It is a project where he creates an artwork on the spot using crayons and pencils. People always stand facing back. Then he sells them for $20, making a stand criticizing the art world and its exorbitant prices.
This particular piece was done by Bubu at the Feria De Arte Y Diseño in 2012 (Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico) in collaboration with Trailer Park Proyects, a constantly moving gallery owned by Alexis Figueroa. Bubu draw me from the back in approximately 30 minutes and proceeded to sign it with a red pen.
